This is the second most powerful pumping station in the Grande Dixence complex after the Z’Mutt station. It receives water already pumped by Ferpècle, as well as water from the Tsidjiore Nouve and Bertol glaciers. In total, the Arolla pumping station receives and lifts around 90 million cubic metres of water each year. Three 16.2 MW double-inlet pumps each lift 4.2 cubic metres of water per second to a height of 312 metres.
