HYDRAULIC ENERGY IS GREEN ENERGY

Switzerland, with its abundance of water, is the European leader in the production of hydraulic energy. From an ecological standpoint, this type of energy has several advantages:

• It is clean.
• It is 100% renewable.
• It does not produce greenhouse gas (CO₂) emissions.

Hydraulic energy is related to solar energy. The sun causes water to evaporate, creating precipitation which at high altitudes is transformed into snow and ice. These melt during the summer and fill the reservoirs. The stored water then drives the turbines in the power stations.

This green energy is available in large quantities and can also be stored.
