| The Grande Dixence complex has contributed to the development of the mountain regions concerned. For the entire duration of the licences (80 years), the canton of the Valais and the 22 licence-granting municipalities receive a significant income which helps them to balance their budgets. When the licences expire, on 31st December 2044, the complex will become, to a large extent, the property of the licence-granting authorities, thus representing a considerable addition to their assets. |
